Character Name: Kaskrim

Your Age: 36

Class: Priest

Level: 80

Talent Spec: Holy, 17/54/0

Armory Link:

Professions: Maxed Enchanting/Alchemy/Fishing/Cooking

Current Guild: Amicus - I just joined but then realized they are in a rebuilding phase and I would prefer a raiding guild with momentum.

Previous Guild/s & Reason/s for leaving:

Sanguine Cross - Drama Issues
Nightstalkers - Pornographic XXX rated vent and Sanguine Cross formed
Team Hero - They stopped raiding 2 months before WOTLK came out

Why are you interested in joining Merciless:

Your current progression is almost the same as mine. You have momentum and enthusiasm. You institute rules designed to reduce drama.

What do you think you will gain from joining Merciless:

A gaming family. A team that I can be a part of their successes.

What do you think Merciless will gain from you joining:

I am a persistent person, I do not give up easily if the raid is going through progression wipes.
I am an excellent healer, I know my class. I tend to advise other members of my class when they come to me, inside guild or out.
I research and share relevant knowledge about encounters at appropriate times.
I have previously performed officers duties for previous guilds, including heal leads, priest class advisor, raid scheduler, and recruitment.
I am usually known to be easy-going and laid back socially
I do not anger easily
I tend to mentor others.

Do you consider yourself guild oriented and why:

I tend to go out of my way to help a guild progress, to help the members learn the fights, to assist the leadership in the smooth running of the raids. I am loyal to a guild if the guild has a positive atmosphere and is enthusiastic.

Rank these in Order (Loot, Progression, Helping Others, Self, Friends):

Progression, Helping Others, Friends, Loot, Self.

Pre-BC/BC/Wrath Raiding Experiences:

Pre-BC, I was an alliance hunter and made it to the loft level of 47.
BC, I cleared Kara, Mag, Gruul, SSC, and BT. I was 1 boss from completion in TK and Hyjal.
WOTLK, I have raided 10 and 25 Naxx, OS 2D, and EOE multiple times. I am 8 bosses into Ulduar 25 and 9 bosses into Ulduar 10.

On a scale of 1-10 how well do you know your class/spec (Be Honest):

9

Do you currently know anyone in Merciless:

Warvold
Benice

Do you have Ventrilo / DeadlyBossMods / Omen:

Yes

List the start time and end time of your raid availability:

Any evening, 5:00 pm server time to late nights.

Two people win the roll for the same piece of loot. Player A wins, but Player B will get a larger upgrade from the loot. Who do you think should get the item and why:

This really depends on circumstances.

The idea of "rolling" is to let a random number generator determine where the loot should go, and as such, everyone needs to agree on it's result in order to make the system work on a social level. If you as a group often go against the result of a roll, because the group leadership feels that another result is more fair, then the group is really better off going with a more advanced loot distribution system, in order to allow the group to be able to have a fair expectation with the loot and also to reduce drama.

If player A is a regular raider, and Player B is not, it is more fair to the raid group as a whole that the loot should go to player A. If player B is a regular raider, and player A is not, it should still go to player A because player B will have far more chances to win the loot in future raids, and for player A, this is a far more rare opportunity to get something. Considering that the group is using a straight "roll" system, it is most fair to the group as a whole for everyone to follow the same rules on every roll.

I guess if the rolls were tied, I would probably give the loot to the person with to which is was a larger upgrade.

If both are regular raiders, it should go to player A and if people are REALLY upset about that, the leadership should consider a different system for loot distribution.

I heard Merciless uses the Ni Karma system for loot distribution, which I personally consider to be one of the best systems, so I don't think we will have a problem here.
